The Team

  • Daniel B, Founder

It's been a phenomenal time here assisting those with Sickle Cell Disease and their families. At the start I knew nothing about the condition and was recruited by Kehinde to assist him with his Sicklekan CIC. He had the condition and wanted more awareness.

After some difficulties we started our own charities and in October 2017 Sicklekan CIO was born. 7 years later we're still going strong and continue to boost the sickle cell community in London and the UK. We're grateful to all the donors, beneficiaries, staff and everyone that has assisted us along the way.

  • Reynold D, Trustee

With over 15 years’ experience in relocation and move management, I built strong skills in logistics coordination, leadership, and client-focused service. In January 2024, I chose to transition into a more purpose-driven career, leading to an opportunity in May 2024 with Sicklekan Charity.

Sicklekan Charity supports individuals affected by sickle cell disease through funding medical research, raising awareness, providing financial assistance, and working with key partners to advance treatment and cure efforts. This career shift reflects my commitment to applying my professional expertise to meaningful social impact.

  • Shirlyn G, Trustee

As a trustee of Sicklekan, I am committed to its mission because sickle cell is a lived reality within the Afro-Caribbean community. I have seen first-hand the impact of poor understanding, delayed diagnosis, and unequal treatment faced by those affected.

The foundation plays a vital role in advocating for individuals and families living with sickle cell, providing education, support, and a trusted voice. My commitment is rooted in ensuring our community is heard, supported, and treated with dignity and compassion.

  • Geraldine R, Trustee

I joined the charity with a clear purpose: to support those less fortunate within our community and to give back, guided by my own experience within the system. Having lived through the challenges that many individuals face, I understood the importance of providing not just support, but real opportunities for change.

Our Charity has been built on hard work, determination, and a strong belief in the potential of every individual. Together, we have made a meaningful difference, helping people improve their lives, regain confidence, and move toward a more positive and sustainable future.

I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far. As we look ahead, our commitment remains strong, and I am confident that we will continue to grow, evolve, and support our community for many years to come.

  • Daniel J, Trustee

I chose to become a trustee of the charity because I am deeply committed to supporting individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease. I believe in the charity’s mission to raise awareness, improve access to support, and advocate for better care. As a trustee, I want to use my skills and experience to help strengthen the organisation, ensure good governance, and contribute to meaningful, long-term impact for the community we serve.
